First we made porcupines (No, I don't come up with these ideas on my own. It was from this book).
Pictures of real porcupines were supplied to dispel any notion that wild porcupines might be, in fact, running around with play-doh bodies and spaghetti quills.
A trip outside to find some leaves, rocks and sticks. Then we created them a nice little habitat.
Adorable?
Of course. But now what do we do with them? I'd let them free outside, but I fear they would be crudely disfigured by our local wild creatures. So right now they are living happily on our dining table (so as not to be crudely disfigured by our local wild Jackster).
Oh my gosh! We love the porcupines and the habitat is over the top. Just so you know, habitat curriculum isn' t even covered until second grade so G is already on the accelerated path :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd now the girls are singing the "Habitat Song" Julianna learned in 1st grade wilderness camp (very catchy). I'd attach a clip, but that's beyond my technical abilities.
