(some of) what we ate

the past few summer months.

almond granola (Cooks Illustrated) - sans almonds this time, G prefers it that way

fettuccine with white clam sauce - one of the first recipes I ever tried (even better the next day, might I add)

grilled chicken thighs, zucchini, Grace's rice (orzo cooked in chicken stock with butter and parmesan) - easy and quick

grilled chicken kebabs (Cooks Country), naantzatzikiorzo with tomatoes, feta, and green onions - our memorial day feast

grilled salmon with basil aioli - use the mayo version listed at the top of the recipe

almond croissants - awesome. really. really. awesome.

raspberry custard cups - easy and delicious

roast potatoes with garlic (a combo of this & this)

cheese soufflé - for when all you have in the fridge is eggs and cheese (and luckily a garden with some lettuce in it, and half a baguette you had thoughtfully stored in the freezer for times like this). One of the first dinners post-Charlie.

strawberry crème fraîche soft serve - quick (and easy to impress unexpected guests).

grilled barbecued chicken kabobs (Cooks Illustrated), grilled bread with zucchini butter - there's *bacon paste* on the chicken and don't forget to rub the bread with garlic!

hot (leftover) roast beef sandwich, half sour pickles - the old crock pot standby and a pickle I first had many years ago (I think G was a year old?) at Ted's Montana Grill. Did some research to find out what they were (salt water, no vinegar) and made them from the only recipe I could find back then. Tried again this year (many more recipes online now), still delicious!

blackberry fluff - a homemade jello version (like that raspberry stuff of Mom's) using Dad's blackberries

sweet cherry hand pies - keep some in the freezer for later

lunch, kindergarten day 2 - these tomatoes were ours, but G has been picking some with her class from the gardens at school and bringing them home!
